Day By Day 75

Today we waited until it was not raining and then walked to the bank, then to Blue Mercury then we went to Mrs. Dalloway’s and bought some books, then to La Mediterranee and had lunch early inside.     Then we came home.     I had my brief talk with my therapist and then joined Bill and Jessi in the kitchen as they went over plans and had fun thinking about July, when we all go to Maui.     Then Bill went upstairs, and I went to the studio to read.     I just called Sharon and talked for a few minutes.     She had to leave to get her hair cut.     Now I’m blogging and then I will have a small meal.     Jessi brought over salmon, but we are saving it until tomorrow night, as we had it last night for dinner.     I assumed we will have dinner and watch TV.     Last night we watched the movie 'Stone Cold'.     It was good.

Day By Day 74

Today we did practically nothing.     We both had trouble sleeping last night, me because I thought my eye doctor appointment was today, and Bill because we saw a movie about a lion last night, ‘Beast’.       It was so rainy all day we just stayed in.     Bill read and I finished my book, then after lunch I watched a movie and Bill worked on his Lego model.     Tonight, we are doing fish, potatoes, and salad for dinner.     Then we will watch a movie and hope for the best.     The rain makes it hard to go for walks, but we love it.

Day By Day 73

Today we walked later but ran into rain.     We did the walk anyway.     I had been reading in my studio and Bill was in his study.     After the rain, I had lunch and then Bill did.     I checked with my friend Marianne, and she will walk at 10 am on Wednesday, and then my friend Ronnie said I could come to her house after lunch which I did until now.     We are ordering Cactus Taqueria for dinner and then picking up Jessi from the Oakland airport.     Last night we watched an interesting film, ‘The Courier’, set in the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis.     I liked it better than Bill did.

Day By Day 72

Yesterday we watched the Viola Davis movie after dinner and enjoyed it.     Today we went for a walk in the morning after having showers, and it was nice.     Then this afternoon I asked Bill if we could go for a drive, and we spent two hours driving to Blackhawk and then seeing the snow on the Mt. Diablo hills plus other hills nearby.     It was great to see the snow, and the drive, in general, was so lovely, with the blossoming trees and greenery.     I’ve never seen it so green. I talked Sharon and she tests negative now, but still has a cold.  She is nervous about her aunt’s upcoming funeral and more importantly, her sister Martha’s son has terminal brain cancer.  So, two of her three children are going to die of cancer, his daughter many years ago and now her son.  Awful!  She will do what she can but it’s terrible.  Tonight, we are having BLTS for dinner and watching another movie.

Day By Day 71

Before I tell you about today, I want to state that on Wednesday, I neglected to write in my blog, and I want to do that now.     We got up and had breakfast, and the wind had died down, so after breakfast we went on the bird walk.     We saw egrets, blue herons and other birds, and it was quite pleasant.     Then we went into town and ate at the Tides restaurant and that was great.     We shared a clam chowder, and I had Crab and Shrimp Louie.     Then we decided to go back to the 7 dollar a Day Park, and we got out and walked along the ocean side for quite a distance.     We had fun on the walk, though I had to hold onto Bill.     It was uneven on the beach.     Then we returned home and then went to dinner at 5:30 and I had a butter lettuce salad and clams.     It was filling, and we got home in time to watch part of a movie and then we went to bed.   Today, Bill and I got out early ...

Day By Day 70

We had a nice drive back home, and then did our laundry and had lunch and I finished my book and Bill is working on his Lego puzzle.     We are having quesadillas for dinner and going to watch a movie.     We had a great time away but it’s good to be back.     Lewis and Scott are much better and that is great for them and for Jessi, who is going to Portland tomorrow for the weekend with Ofelia.     I hope they have fun.

Day By Day 69

We drove this morning to Bodega Bay and got here around noon.     We stopped at in at the Tides and had lunch inside.     The wind was almost too fierce to walk around in.     I had to put on my coat and hold my hat.     We had burgers and fries and iced tea.     Then we drove out to the point but did not get out.     It was unbelievably windy.     Then we drove lodge to Doran Beach Park but didn’t go in as it was seven dollars to drive in, and we didn’t believe we could get out.     So we went back to our place, The Lodge at Bodega Bay, and it was all ready, so we got our stuff and came here.     It is a gorgeous place on the ground floor, an Ocean Club Suite (we were upgraded for free yesterday).     Bill took a ton of photos of the room.     We will be in here until it’s our dinner at 6:45 pm.     The view from our room is great, even if it is too windy to go...

Day By Day 68

Today we prepared for our two-day trip.     We walked, then I got some groceries from Star, then we Went to Trader Joe’s to get flowers for Marianne.     She had her first grandchild last night.     Then we took a card and flowers to her house.     They must be so thrilled.     Then we came home, had lunch and Bill did two incredible things:     he got our vaccination cards online and he ordered me a pair of binoculars.     We had discovered the cleaners had taken the cards at some point and the binoculars.     I don’t know what we are going to do about them.     We will think of it later.     Right now, we just want to not leave anything here that they can take.     It’s upsetting.

Day By Day 67

Today I did exercises then went out to the studio to do my Meditation and Dharma talk with Anum Thubten on Zoom.     Then I called Sharon to see how she was doing.     She is better but has a cough and doesn’t feel good.     Then I came in and we had lunch and then I asked Bill if he would take me to Blue Mercury to get lipstick, which he agreed to and then we dropped off Deb’s books, as she has never picked them up.     I then finished my book in the sunroom and Bill went to his study to work on His Lego cruiser.     We are going to have dinner and watch another movie tonight.     Nikolaj has a fever, so I hope we don’t get that, and Wesley and Lewis don’t feel well either, so they didn’t go anywhere today.     I hope we don’t get something from them.

Day By Day 66

Today we went to Santa Rosa to celebrate Riyad and Nora’s birthdays.     It was a magical day.     Everything along the way was green and verdant.     The weather got up to 68 and we did not need jackets.     We got to their house and then decided to go for a short walk, which we really enjoyed.     Then we followed Riyad and Nora to Healdsburg, and it was so lovely.     We ate outside at Barndiva, and it was delicious.     Bill and I even got interesting ice teas and Riyad and Nora had a drink.     We loved every minute of it.     Then we went to Jam Jar to get some stuff.     I got three hand creams and earrings that were lovely.     Riyad got earrings for Ofelia and something for Nora for her birthday.     Then we tried to find the Ice cream store, but it was too packed.     So, we headed home.     We said our goodbyes to the three of them...

Day By Day 65

Lewis and Jessi came over this morning and played for a while with us.       We decided to do the Oakland Zoo, and that turned out fine.     We saw alligators, otters, fruit bats, chimpanzees, turtles, went inside the insect house, and then at lunchtime had lunch outside by the train.     Lewis loves trains, so we first went on the train.     By then Lewis was too tired to do any more.     We came home and Lewis and Jessi went home.     We are doing the laundry now and will have dinner and watch a movie tonight.

Day By Day 64

Today the cleaners were here, and I went for a walk with my friend Marianne.     Then we had lunch, and I watched a romantic movie. Right after my best friend Sharon called with news that she has Covid and so does her son, daughter, and granddaughter.     She’s bummed out but has gotten the Paxlovid and will be fine, I’m sure.     But it is a bummer.     Also, her last aunt died at 106 in her sleep.     So now I’m writing the blog while Bill gets my prescriptions, then we will have dinner and watch a movie of some sort.     He likes to watch sci fi and I don’t, but we usually watch what he wants to watch, because I can never figure out what I want to watch in time.

Day By Day 63

Today I got my monitor off and it felt terrific.     I really was happy no matter what the outcome is.     We walked to the post office to mail the monitor, and then went home.     Then we went out to the Beer Baron to eat lunch outside.       I came back to the house and watched the rest of the movie from last might “Your Place or Mine” with Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kushner.     It wasn’t great, but I liked it.     Now I’m blogging, and after we will rest,     then have dinner and see a movie.

Day By Day 62

Today we walked despite the cold weather.     It was sunny  but freezing.     Then we went to Star and bought some  stuff, and then to Jutta’s to get white flowers.   But first Lewis and his mom came by to get his birthday card, the Valentine’s Day cards, and his clothes, which came yesterday on his birthday.  Then we had lunch, and I went to the studio all afternoon and Bill did his puzzle.  Now we will have dinner and then watch something on TV.  Not A bad Valentine’s Day!

Day By Day 61

Today I went to the Elmwood Stationers with Bill and got Valentines.     Then we walked home.     In the afternoon I walked again with Deb.     She finally is covid negative and can venture out again.     In between, I read.     Tonight, Bill got us Namastey Nepalese food for dinner and we will watch a Gamache episode while we eat.

Day By Day 60

Yesterday we celebrated Lewis’ Birthday.     We went to ‘Swings and Wings’ and played for two hours.     Lewis had a blast.     We really loved watching him have so much fun. Then we came home and had a Cactus Taqueria dinner.     Lewis opened his presents. Lewis had the piece de resistance – Lewis’ chocolate cake.     He ate a lot of it and will have more later.     He was so happy with it all.     We left at 7 and went home.     Today I had four people over to my studio and was as happy with the results.  We had a great conversation, and when it was over, we had one member ask for what she wanted when she got home, and her task is completed.  I read this afternoon and am making meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and yellow squash for dinner.  Then we will watch something on TV afterwards.

Day By Day 59

Today I got up before 6:30 because I had to see my doctor at 8:30 am.     I was ready to not do it, but my husband insisted.     It went fine.     I was a little upset because I forgot to check in right away, but it didn’t take long.     Then I rested while Bill did his stuff and then we met our daughter Jessi at 11:30 am and had a nice lunch at Barney’s outside.     Then I finished my book and Bill worked on his puzzle.     Now I’m doing my blog and then we’ll have dinner and watch a movie.     Tomorrow, I see my friend Carol in the morning while Bill is at home for the Heating maintenance person, then in the afternoon we will try to buy a new phone for ourselves.     The old one is so old the voice messages on it don’t work anymore.

Day By Day 58

Today I had my heart monitor put on for a week.     It was fine.     Then we came home and walked.     Then we had lunch and did our own separate things in the afternoon.     Now we are getting ready for dinner and then the last episode of     the Brokenwood Mysteries for this season.     Tomorrow, I have Dr. Sorenson’s appointment bright and early, then we are having lunch with Jessi and then I’m getting a toy for Lewis’ birthday Saturday.

Day By Day 57

Today we went to Trader Joe’s and got a lot of food, then put it all way.     Then we took a walk and then had lunch.     I then finished by book in the studio and Bill was working upstairs in his office.     We are going to have dinner and then watch another episode of Brokenwood Mysteries.   Tomorrow, I get the heart monitor on, and I must get up early to be there on time.     Then I have my appointment with Arianna, the nutritionist, at 11 am.

Day By Day 56

Today we walked and I did my exercises then we went to the dentist, and she was able to fix my tooth then and there, which was such a relief.     We then went to Tutu’s and ate outside.     I feel so much better.     We ate dinner last night with Scott and Jessi, but we left soon after.     The boys don’t eat, and Lewis wants his mother to be with him.     Finally, he went up for his bath and we left.     But before dinner we went on a walk with Lewis, and he was great.     When we got home from the meal, we watched one episode of Brokenwood Mysteries.     Then it was time for bed.     I slept okay until 4:30 am then couldn’t really sleep much the rest of the night.     But today I’m much better.     I hope the monitor is not awful to wear and that it is only for a week.

Day By Day 55

Yesterday I didn’t write, but we didn’t do much except walk around the Lafayette Reservoir.     We did good, not stopping at all.     It’s about 2 and a half miles around with a lot of uphill and downhill work.     Afterwards Bill just walked to the store nearby and got a few things.     It was on and off raining, in fact it rained on us the last part of the Reservoir.     Last night we watched two episodes of the Brokenwood Mysteries.     This morning I zoomed my meditation and then the dharma talk with Anam Thubten, and now I’ve had lunch.     We are going to go to a Toy store this afternoon so Wesley can get a Lego set for part of his money.     He was not satisfied with the check being written to him for lessons.     I understand.     I guess I won’t try that again.     After we get the toy, he wants Bill to help him put it together.     Maybe we’ll walk wit...

Day By Day 54

Today I had a nice walk with Marianne.     Her grandson is due February 20, so she’s waiting anxiously for the baby to be born.     I also did my exercises before the walk.     I was nervous about Bill’s dermatologist appointment, but he did fine.     No problems.     I also talked with Sharon on the phone for a while.     Then I also talked to Deb.     It turns out George and she got Covid on their trip and had to go home while George had Covid, and her kids are not speaking to her.     She is negative today, but George is positive again.     She hopes they will both be negative by next week.     I was afraid she might get Covid, but they both took Paxilvad and had mild cases.     She hasn’t seen her granddaughter in a. month, though, because of the Covid.     At least their trip was great until the end.     They saw friends and only left at the end. ...

Day By Day 53

After a long time away, I am returning to my daily blog again.     We had a wonderful time in both Seattle and Portland, but we were overcome by changes, and some very long days.     I also had a great 3 days with Sharon at her house.     Now we are trying to get back to our schedule, but today is the first day we felt well enough to begin writing again.     I had to get up at 6 am and had an hour and a half dentist appointment from eight to nine thirty.      Then I came home and had early lunch and went over to Ronnie’s for two hours.     She had had a setback, so she and I just talked for 2 hours.     I loved catching up with her and we talked a lot about books we’d read.     Then I came home and flopped for an hour, while Bill had therapy.     Then we’ve been cleaning a bit and now we will have our dinner at five pm.     A quick movie and early bed for us tonight.   ...
